Veda Brown
Virtually nothing is known about Veda Brown, one of the lesser-known singers on Stax's roster in the early '70s. She did manage to crack the lower regions of the charts with two of her four singles on the label, "Short Stopping" and the ballad "Don't Start Lovin' Me." Brown was one of several talented but minor singers that could be found in the Stax empire alone, and while her work there is decent characteristic early-'70s Stax soul, there's not enough to indicate that she necessarily deserved a wider berth. After a couple of subsequent singles on the Raken label, nothing was heard from her again. I am Mildred Pulliam Whitehorn's aka "Veda Brown" daughter and this photo is not her! Read more on Last.fm.
